I live in the country and the olny internet service, other than dial up, was satellie internet. I chose Direcway that later became HughesNet. First of all, the thing never work. Honesly, it worked about 15-20 days a month. Download speeds were very slow when it did work and worst of all, I had to pay $105 a month for this terrible service.
When I called, it was impossible to reach anyone who could help. I only have so much time in the day and spending time every day dealing with HughesNet was impossible. When I tried to cancel, they said that I would be charged a $300 termination fee and another $400 until they received the equipment back (including the actual satellite.)
So, I said that I would just make my payment and stick it out till the end of the supposed verbal contract. I paid my money but they refused to restore my service. They said that they had cancelled my account for non payment.
I missed a month because my service didn't work and I told them that I refused to pay for a service that I didn't receive. Is there anyone out there that can help me with this problem? I'm afraid my credit being effected. Please help. Attorney?
