Someone through a SKYPE account
Consumer Report

I joined CHINESELOVELINKS.com dating site for a one month subscription. The profile I became interested in slowly developed into a scam. Supposedly, she was a "live in nanny" working in the Guangdong Province. Her employer was a International business man. She was poor. She was using her employers desktop computer for internet dating. She stated she could not buy a webcam and video chat with me because her employer caught his previous nanny on a webcam, naked in front of his two kids. I wanted to verify the identity of who I was Yahoo Instant Messenging while speaking to on the phone through SKYPE. So I sent her a $350.88 laptop with shipping charges of $77.00 totalling $427.88. While the laptop was in route to China, three suspicious charges occured on my bank account by SKYPE; $1.00, $25.00 and $22.26. I contacted SKYPE within hours of discovering the charges. SKYPE informed me that someone created a SKYPE account and used my debit card information and bought SKYPE products. SKYPE reversed the charges and canceled the scammers account. SKYPE recommended that I should cancel my debit card. I then canceled my debit card after speaking with my bank. The charges have been reversed. The "live in nanny" in China informed me that she received the laptop. She says the laptop will not work in her employers home, that the computer technician could not get it working. I will not be video chatting with her on the laptop I sent her. Also, she insisted that I go through her employers Travel Agency, "LINKGUIDETRAVELS.com" to buy a visa, physical and air fare for her to visit me here in the US. I called this travel agency and spoke to a Mr. Peng Lang. He said he was in the English Department at the travel agency. He sent an email to me and stated that he would guarantee the visa and air fare for the nanny. I have stopped all communications with this scam. I believe there are three main scam categories in this case; CHINESELOVELINKS who had my banking information, The Nanny, and LINKGUIDETRAVELS.
