I hired Closet World to install 14 slider shelves into my existing pantry shelves. The designer came to my home took the measurements and gave me a price. She insisted I pay at least half up front, which I later found out is illegal. Contractors can only charge 10% down. We made an appointment for two weeks in the future (giving them enough time to cash my check).
A day before the installation I removed all items from my pantry into my living room. I was told the installers would arrive between 1pm-5pm. At 4:30 they called and said the installers would be here in 1 hour. They showed up at 8:30PM! The installers had the wrong color shelves and only had four of those. I agreed to the wrong color and they installed the four they had. The next day I made another appointment to finish the job.
My second appointment was scheduled for a friday from 9am-12noon. Closet World called in the morning to confirm. The installers showed up at 5PM! No call to say we are running late. I had to call them and no one seemed to know where the installers where as I was supposed to be their first stop of the day. When they did show up, they installed shelves that were too big so that two of my cabinet doors will not close. And the other shelves were obviously too small for the shelf so there is a one inch gap between the side of the shelf and the wall of the cabinet with screws sticking out. When I pointed these problems out to the installers, they said they would have to come back as they did not have the correct equipment to correct the problem.
Closet World then made another appointment. The installers were only one hour late for that one. They left after fifteen minutes stating they still did not have the correct parts to fix the problems with the shelves.
If and when they do come to fix the problems, I will be left with gaping holes in my cabinet walls from the poor installation. Not only that but some of my shelves were unevenly installed.
So far, I have been unable to get resolution from Closet World for their sub-standard work. This company is extremely unprofessional and uncooperative. I have spoken to six different supervisors. No one seems to be in charge of this place. An installation that the designer said would take a couple of hours has spanned into four weeks.
