Told me that they were working in neighborhood had material left over and that crew was ready to work for the day. They had a new white truck with the company logo Allan's paving. If I wanted my driveway paved they will do it for less than 1.50 a foot that it will usually cost over 3 dollars a foot. I said I had no money. He said that they could just fix the big hole at the entrance 27 x 16 feet and they will even it out with the road so that the water will stop collecting in my driveway for 1000. I had wanted to o that for the longest time. I was in my way out and they followed me outside they were parked behing me so I couldn't leave even if i wanted. They walked with me to the entrance of my driveway and started talking to me showing pictures in their iphones of how it will look like they told me it will look like the driveway across the street. They seemed friendly enough I said let me see what my brother thinks. One of the men said call him right now, so I did outside in front of them my brother asked how far I said only until the light pole he said asked them for the whole driveway. Allan cooper went to the brand new truck took out a tool to measure it and said that it was 77 x16 feet and that in the hole it will have to be at least a foot deep my brother said that 2500 hundred sounded like fair price. They said deal. I told them I had to run errands and they said that it will be better to get payed in cash. I called my sister and told her if I could used her money she had given me to deposit. She said ok. When I got back home they had already brought all the equipment and were ready to work. I parked on the street. And went inside doing my house chores I heard the truck arrived it lo had the company logo. I was going to go outside to check on the work but the driver and Allan started fighting telling each other off I run inside and let them work. Less than an hour later they knocked on the door wanted to be payed. I couldn't believe they were finished I was surprised that they didn't make it to the edged and finished it nicer but they said that it wasn't the hot asphalt but cold asphalt called millings, and that it will harden with time they wanted to be payed so I feel intimidated and gave them the money asked for a receipt and while the one wrote the receipt the other one kept talking to me about my phone my family how blessed I was to have a brother who cared so much I said I asked him everything nice my husband died. So they seemed so concerned about me being a widow raising 4 kids on my own they talked about their daughter being the same age as mine. They handed me the receipt and told me o move my van so that they could take the equipment away. I took the receipt without looking at it and went inside got my keys went out to move my car out of their way. They seem to be in a hurry o leave they almost forgot their jackets I run after them to give it to them. 2 hours later when my son got home he asked me what kind of asphalt it was because he can leave tire trucks with his 4 wheeler. I told him that they said that in a day or 2 it will harden up. When my other 3 kids arrived they kept asking me why isn't hard, why o stones jump out when I bounce a ball in it. I was surprised so I went outside and looked at it and theybwere right driveway no longer looked black it was just a pile of stones. I run inside o read the receipt. It said no warranties and that they only put millings not asphalt. I felt sick to my stomach and called paving ompanies to ask what millings were and how much would that cost. Many told me that they ad to look at it but one contractor said he could come and look at it. Half an hour later he came and told me that it wasn't asphalt and that it could be used to spread correctly and evenly before pouring the asphalt on top of it. I asked him ow much would the job of doing that would cost. He measured it and walked around and wrote me an estimate. He said that to do the job correctly it I'll cost 2400 dollars more. I asked him how much would he have charged me without having he millings installed. He said that it would had been 400 dollars more. I felt sick again. I payed 2500 for 400 dollars job. He said at the most with all the equipment and all they should ad never charged me more tan 800 dollars. Now I am so upset, I can't sleep. I called the number and told them and they said that look at he receipt they only put millings and that asphalt would had cost more than 5000 dollars. Allan Cooper said that it will harden up with time and wait about a month or so. I feel so sad. I can't do anything but cry. I owe my sister money. I could had used that money to pay some bills. How could I had been so dumb and fallen for such a scam. I feel useless that people can take advantage of me because I am alone.
