Asphalt Paving - John Mesker and Patrick Meske
Consumer Report

Asphalt Paving paved our driveway and various other areas on our farm in Texas. Patrick Mesker told us they were going to lay 3 1/2" of asphalt and compress it to 3".in some spots it is only a ¼” to ½” thick. One of their tricks is to build up the sides so it looks nice and thick but in reality it is a very thin layer of asphalt. They also did not apply a correct base to some areas so the asphalt is very unstable and already shows signs of alligator cracking. Over time it will probably break apart. The asphalt was not properly compressed by evidence of you can still move the asphalt with your foot even after 7 days. It feels like you are walking on a rubber mat. They also sealed the asphalt even though we told them not to because asphalt has to cure for at least 90 days before you seal it; therefore where they sealed the asphalt, it is very soft. The sealer truck rutted the driveway as they were spraying the sealer. The job consists of poor workmanship, quality and materials. We are seeing cracks all over and where the asphalt is thin, it is coming up and you can see the prior road base. There are footprints and tire marks all in the soft asphalt even after 7 days. Stay away from this company and father (John Mesker) and son (Patrick Mesker) team!!! Also Patrick Mesker kept saying, "If you don't like the job, you don't have to pay for anything, we will just walk away." They also graded up another road on our property without our permission and ruined it, so now we have to repair this road at our expense. We are reporting them to our local authorities, the Better Business Bureau, The Texas Watchdog, as well as the Texas Attorney General’s Office. Fortunately we stopped payment on our check, but we still have to deal with the mess they have made on our property and have to get a reputable company to repair the asphalt.
