I'm writing to you is to inform you how Duke Engry Doesnt care about the people that are having a hard time making payments to them. All they care about is the money. I have been out of work now for7 months and it isnt like I havent been trying to find work. But my husband does have a job but we are having a hard time still making ends meet due the cost of living (everything going up but pay checks). I called Duke Engry and talked to the payment center they enrolled me in their payment plan where you pay so much along with the money bill. We was paying 343.00 to 369.00 amonth. That was ok till things went from bad to worst for us. I called Duke To try to talk to them how we was having a hard time the person stated I have to make the payment or my power would be turned off. I called different place trying to get help with the power bill. But they all said the samething they was out of money due to cut backs or they would have the money till next month but
that would be limit to what they could do or I didnt live in that county where they could help. So being a mother and not knowing whatelse to due and knowing cold weather was moving in. I sent a check in to them knowing the money wouldnt be there. But I thought we could make it up next month. Things just started adding up and we couldnt make it up. I called Duke and talked to the payment center I told them about how we was having a very hard time. The person stated to me if I didnt make a payment they would turn off my power knowing cold weather was moving in. I asked them so you are telling me you would turn off the power to a family that is having a hard time and cold weather moving in. The person just said pay your bill or the power will be turn off. Next week they came out and turn off the power to house. I called they again and the lady stated to me there was nothing they could due cause I broke the agreement plan and I sent in a check that didnt
clear the bank. They would turn my power on if I pay843.69. I told her we didnt have they money and there was no way we could come up with that. She said call back when you can make a payment. The following week I got a bill from Duke stated that it was a final bill and we owe them 1,043.69 in full. We tried to get the power on in someone else name but they sent it to the fraud department. We have been without power now for a month and half. We are useing a gentor for power and heaters for warmth. It isnt like we can send something into Duke to help pay down the bill cause what little money we have lefted over goes for gas for the gentor (friends) and gas for the heaters please help if you can thank you
