On Feb 8 I called Duke Energy to do a transfer to my new residents on Feb 14. On April 1 I called to advised that I have not rcv a bill for my new address. The rep told me my old balance and advised that I should rcv a bill within a week or two. So today April 12 I go home and my lights are off. I call to see what was going on and was hung up on 4 times by names o will not disclose.

Finally I speak to a rep that advises me that the power was disconnected due to the guy that use to live at my new address was using power illegally, I asked what does that have to do with me. Rep stated that I needed to speak to a energy protection dept and they were closed and call tomorrow between 8am and 5pm. I asked do you not have a record of me calling on Feb 8 requesting power being transfered she stated yes but the new street address was typed incorrectly, again I asked what does that have to do with me. She stated that's were your lights were transfered I advised no b/c when I called to I advised blank address and that when I first looked at house lights were off and when I moved in lights were on and that a tech came to house. She stated that they may be true and she saw notes to support that what I was saying was true. She put me on hold to talk with her supervisor. She came back and stated u are correct ma'am but unfortunately we can't do anything until you speak with energy protection.

So I asked for supervisor who then got on the line and explained the whole thing and apologized that unfortunately due to previous tenant from new address, that I do not know used illegal power that I have to be with out lights tonight and that she would place note in account to advise that it was duke energy error but I still had to wait to clear everything up with energy protection then to add insult to energy she advise that I may need to pay deposit and reconnect fee. I lost it on her and said oh no and asked where is deposit for old address where I transfered she said that went to new address. I asked you mean new address I am at now, she no ma'am the address with the type o. I said do you realized what you just said. I don't even know where that address is and you have record and recorded call of the address that I called on Feb 8 to have power transferred to.

I became frustrated and advised that I would call the energy protection tomorrow, which I am. I also called every media station tonight in which I have and two of them called Duke Energy and of course they advised that someone will call tomorrow. I will update tomorrow. But renters please make sure that there is a zero balance on any new address that you move to or the previous tentant has no used illegal power so that you want come on to your power out.
