I purchased a brand new Toshiba Satelite laptop computer from Best Buy on 4/23. The price of the computer was $599.00. Four weeks later, we closed the computer and re-opened the lid to use the computer the next day to find two lines down the side of the screen originating at the top where the closing latch is located. Teh Computer was taken back to Best Buy on 6/4 and I was told that the screen was damaged but that it should be covered by the one year manufactury warranty and that the computer would be ready for pick up by 6/12. On 6/13 I was contacted by e-mail and told that it would cost $498 to repair the screen!!! I questioned Best Buy and was told to call Toshiba directly because Best Buy coudl do anything about the screen without charging me for the repair. I spoke with two representatives from Toshiba, one of which was a supervisor who very rudely told me that Toshiba wasn't responsible and that I had probably damaged the screen. The cost to repair the screen should not cost as much as the entire computer and since the "crack" started at the area around the latch to the computer, I should not be responsible for paying the entire cost to repair it. Please help!!! I don't want another computer, I just want the one I am still paying for repaired.
