Been with Vonage for almost 5 years. Moved 2 numbers of mine to them that I had for my business for over 12 years. Tried to move about a year ago and couldn't get my numbers ported. Decided to live with it a little longer. Finally wanted to move to save nearly $75 per/month. Decided to move to a new service. Had put in for my numbers to be moved nearly 2 weeks before my billing cycle. Kept them on the phone to make sure the porting request was accurate.
By the next billing cycle, nothing had happened and I was charged for the full month. When I called, I was told there was an inaccuracy with the porting request and that they did not show that I called to cancel. I had explained that was curious since they walked me through it and I had the name of who I spoke with.
Alas, I put in the porting request again. I recorded all of my phone calls and was told that as soon as the numbers ported, my account would be automatically cancelled and they would process a refund at that time. Remember, this is recorded!
This time, confirmation of one of my two numbers had been ported and the other was waiting for completion. Today, I was charged again, for another month. I called the number that was apparently still not moved and it rang into the new service. Therefore, I called Vonage to, yet again, attempt to cancel my account. I was told that was fine but that I would get no refund.
I explained to them that I had recordings of account reps telling me that I would, but I was rudely told that I wouldn't. They said their notes didn't match what I was saying. I offered to email them copies of my recordings, but they didn't accept my offer and said they had their notes.
I was finally closed out and then called my bank to stop this month's transaction, which hadn't posted yet, and dispute last month's.
In the end, it is seriously suspect, to say the least, how difficult it was to move my numbers, but then be told that you can't cancel until they port or you'll lose the numbers.
