Lady friend went to Home Depot and asked if she could upgrade a refrigerator builder put in house but she never used it. Sales clerk said yes but she would have to bring the old one back because they do not pick up. Sales clerk wrote up a bill on the transaction with sale of the upgraded refrigerator. Lady friend got me and another friend to help her and she rented a truck, lugged the refrigerator into the truck and took it to home depot about 15 miles away. Got there and the clerk said "we don't take returns." We showed her the paperwork of what the other clerk had worked out and told us to bring the return refrig back to the store Clerk went and got appliance manager. He said that is a problem with your builder and with a smirk on his face almost laughing said its not home depot's problem. We said we rented a truck and hauled this big refrigerater here to do the transaction that the other clerk started and waved the paperwork based on the return.
We then went to the front of the store and asked to see the return policy and the store manager. The manager listened to us and he said he understood the store should have never said they would take the return and he will look into it further. He called the appliance manager to the front of the store and the appliance manager said he already talked to the customer and they do not take returns. So I said, so your clerk said they will do the exchance and wrote up this paperwork and we rented a truck and broke our backs getting this refrigerator back here and you are not going to follow through on what the store said they were going to do... And with a SMIRK, almost laughing this rediculous appliance manager said no. I said well I will let the better business bureau and local tv stations and who ever else I can get in touch with know what kind of company this is, including corporate headquarters of Home Depot. And we left the store..
The attitude of the manager is unheard of in retail. And to have this woman go through all this and spend all this money to rent a truck is rediculous.
