Our nightmare started In april 04/28 when I contacted a site for movers Delta responded first and followed up with a call within a few hours of my submission. We were moving from Florida to Maine. We contracted for 8 dish packs to be packed by them I am disabled and I just could nt get the Blue willow china I have collected for years packed and when I talked to and rest we packed in 18 gallon plastic tubs with lids. There were about 60 tubs packed some still packed from a previous move. The contract dates are listed below
Move Date: 05/27 - 05/28
1st Available delivery: 05/31 To / / They never showed up on the 27th I got a late day call telling me it would be tomorrow. I was also told it could be saturday but not a definate. I was upset and Issac the dispatcher said we get there tomoorw Saturday is just in case we still running late. On the 28th they still did nt show up so now i am back on the phone with Issac in dispach he tells me saturday and says I told you other day was going to be saturday I said no you told me it might be not that you schedualed it then.
At any rate the movers showed up near midnight on the 28th started loading the truck By then I was asleep I take meds at night so I can sleep. When they got the truck almsot 1/2 loaded My husband woke me up. Said I had to sign papers or the movers would stop working. I was out of it. I got the papers from the mover to read and sign I could hardly read them and after a few pages I realized they were all blank. I got to the mover and told him I can not sign these one reason I took meds and I cant understand them other is they are blank nothing is filled out. He said I show you were to sign and tell you what they say because if you dont sign them we have to stop and you will have to pay for the stuff we loaded in cash and we will go. I was omg we have to be in Maine in a few days and you cant do this, He said you signt he papers now then. He went over them as best he could his english was not great but at that point I felt I had no choice but to sign them I did note on the one for packing boxs it was blank and I was not given a choice I had to sign it. It was past 1 am when I got the papers done and all the time the other guy continued to load the truck. I had a lot of concerns by then because I realized the truck was too small for all our stuff I was told they could not get the van up our road and they would shuttle our stuff to the van they said the van was at the truck stop in Ocala I was too out of it to get it all but I knew we could not afford to pay the contract if they stopped and could not get a mover in time to be in maine when we had things schedualed to be done on our home there. They finished at 4 am and left to load the van said they would be back by 9 am well since we know they had no sleep and as the driver told us had to keep changeing thier logs for the road time we figured it would be noon or latter befor they came back.
It was late about 3-4 pm and they started packing the blue willow and moveing stuff they left about 3 am to go to the van still claiming no sleep and it was begining to show. Finally on SUnday about 5 pm they finished the last of the things to go to the van at that time they brought me the papers I signed the night they got there. The 8 dish packed we were charged for was 290.00 but the packing list now showed other boxs we never told them to pack and our packing bill went over 1k I totally freaked out. I told him why are these on here he said we had to pack them to move them I was like we did nt tell you to pack them I wont pay for them he said you have to you signed the paper... We also had a truck moved and at this point we are ready to leave and the mover told us the van will go behind you when we drop off the last load but no one came to get the truck. I called dispatch they said oh they come get it tomorrow I said we are leaveing now I cant leave it here with the keys in it. We gave the keys to the people next door since the mover was comming on monday. They never came on monday for the car they finally picked it up on wednesday.By then we were in maine and got the call for the car and to pick it up. The car carrier told us he was not told until wednesday to get the truck and he went right out and got it. I told him we were told you were to pick it up Monday he said they never called me until wednesday again more lies.
Now the van has not come so Again I call Issac he says the truck is in florida but wont tell me where But he will have our stuff delivered on tuesday of the next week. I told him we had no beds and it is cold we need our stuff and asked why the truck did nt leave when they told us it would. He would nt respond. Now we wait until tuesday and again no truck. Finally I called Lake county Florida sherriff to find out where our things are and verify they are ok. The sherrif called and spoke to Issac who would not tell him where the truck was only that it was in central florida and on the road he told the sherrif they should have our stuff delivered by the weekend. Well it never came. I sent an Email to
