AMS Moving And Storage Theft, Extortion, Distruction of property, Furniture Abuse, SCAM, Fraudlent estimating, lazy movers, late pick up, threats, do not use AMS!

I was moving from IL to TX. I scheduled a full pack, and then pack the truck. The original person I spoke with guaranteed me a month of free storage, as well as packing on Friday, and then loading the truck Saturday. I had to leave no later than Saturday afternoon to get there by Monday. They never called nor answered my calls on Friday. On Saturday, they called me at noon, they were supposed to be back to pack the truck at 8. They said they were going to be late, were still in Texas. They show up around 3 pm, and finally come out with the real story, they were in town for 4 hours but had to have some lunch. I have a three year old, and I'm an asthmatic, so they were of course, smoking in my non-smoking home.

They just threw stuff into boxes and dropped all of them so I could hear the items that were breakable, break.

The hanging clothes in the closet were stuffed into a tiny box, to save room was the mover's claim. That means they get to pay my drycleaning bill. Then, they decide that since it's midnight, they need to borrow my phone and order a pizza. No bother that my son and I are still up. Do you know what a 3 year old is like at midnight? Needless to say, they weren't done yet. Then, they demanded $150.00 for packing a 16x20 mirror, some alcohol in special containers, as well as laundry detergent, and special packaging for some pictures. Upon walk through in the end, they left all those things behind!

Finally, at 3 am, they had the truck packed, and I said I was to have a free month of storage. They said they didnt' know anything about that, and they would take it to Dallas. I said my stuff was supposed to go to Florida, to thier storage and they said no, I would have to get a self-storage place in Dallas for $21. A month. I said no, and they took it to Dallas anyway. I am supposed to have three months of storage, and they of course, are only able to store my stuff for 15 days. (This changes with each email I get from them threatening that my stuff will be given to charity and an arrest warrant will be issued for theft of services for me in Dallas TX and Carbondale, IL, where my stuff was picked up.)

My cell does not have reception in most states, and select areas in IL, so there was no hope for Dallas. Yet they insisted on leaving me 31 messages, like a drunken prom date, about what to do with my stuff. I couldn't call back because it was 5 dollars to do so by pay phone, and who carried 5 dollars in quarters?

Finally, they put my stuff in storage. I was able to find a hotel and set up my computer, so they start emailing that I am in theft of services. I had to pay 40% of the total they quoted me before the movers even showed up, late. To top it off, he said it was going to be double the price if they had to put it in storage, take it out and deliver it someplace else. I said that was part of my contract, and they said no it wasn't. I can't even get in touch with the original guy who I made the deal with.

Now, dispatch is calling and threatening me and treating me like an infant who wet his pants because I refuse to deal with them on the telephone. I prefer to communicate at this point via email so I have a written record of the discrepancies between my contract and their ideas. The driver is threatening theft of services, yet he has my stuff in storage and 1700 dollars of mine, plus the $150 he extorted at the pick up. They are also threatening to give my stuff to charity on Friday because they can only hold my stuff in storage for 15 days.

I've never had a moving company treat me so badly. I should have gone with a name company like Mayflower, Atlas, or one of the others. I urge you to do so, and don't waste your time, money, or energy on AMS, they are a bunch of scam artists. I may never see my stuff again, and at this point, just want the whole thing over.
