My husband signed up for this service for my daughter for good long distance service plans when she went away from home for university. He used his card on one time and now we are stuck arguing with them trying to get our money back because of the auto renewal scam.
I called on Sept 27 not to renew my Onlinetel long distance service and making sure no withdrawal will be taken on our credit card. I specifically ask if they need written confirmation for not continuing their service and they said no it will be on the record that the service will be discontinued.
When my November statement came, I noticed they took $42.38 from our account without even email or mail us and just charged our credit card hoping I wont notice. I called them on November 13 asking to have my money back. They said it will take more than a month before I will get my refund. I called again on January 15 and asked for the manager on duty, he apologized about the delay of the refund due of the staff transition or new management staff at the billing department. He said he will send an email to billing department to put this on priority.
I called again on March 3 and still waiting for my refund, same excuses that I have already heard from the previous supervisor.
I called again March 24, three times and spoke with two different call center and the last one I got the director of call center here in Canada saying because of new ownership of the company it will take awhile for the refund and also they were in the process of refunding their customers whose has been waiting for their refunds for more than a year. And here I am still waiting for my refund since November. I continued to push them to return my money back to my credit card. Same bulls*t that I have had been hearing from them. I spoke 6 different people which according from them they are customer service supervisor and they are saying same bulls*t.
Just because they have our credit card information they can use it over and over again without our authorization. We did not sign up for any agreement regarding auto renewal and all of sudden they automatically renew their service without our knowledge? Now we have to wait another 2,4, 6,8 or a year to have our money back? Do you think we will get our money back?
Why are companies allowed to do this in Canada?
