Most moving companies out there will try to nickel and dime you to death, but A-Team takes it to a whole new level. I was dubious to use them because of their lousy BBB rating at the time - please note that the BBB recently dismissed their accredition as well - which was a C. I spoke with a rep there who guaranteed me good, accurate and professional service. All three points were a complete fallacy.
First, they obviously charge by the pound which is a no-brainer there. I gave them a list of my inventory which they claimed was over 2500 pounds. So, I was given a quote based upon that weight. Now, for every pound that you go OVER, you have to pay MORE than the original price per pound, I am assuming for the extra work they have to put in. But, if your weight comes back less, you would think that you would get the same amount back refunded per pound under. WRONG! You get BACK LESS than what you paid for pound. So either way, the scale tips in their favor. If you are over, you have to pay more per pound. If less, you get back LESS than what you paid. Needless to say, they were over by nearly 1000 pounds. Now come on, how can you be given a list of items and be off by 1000 pounds? That's right, so they can profit.
Second, they caused over $1200 worth of damage. I will not go into the inventory on here, but the damage was substantial. We have pictures to prove it. I am not talking about a few broken glasses here and there but major pieces of furniture were crushed. We had whole boxes of dishes that were pulverized. It was pointedly obviously they diplayed gross negligence when handling our precious things.
Third, I tried filing a claim but A-Team said I had to go through their "claims team" which is based in Florida. Each time you call it sounds as if they are operating out of a garage. I gave them each item that was damaged and told them the value. I also filed a complaint with the BBB and when A-Team found out, they emailed me saying that complaining to the BBB will not do a thing because they are not even affiliated with the BBB. If that is the case, why was their company profile on there?!? I actually spoke with someone at the BBB and lo and behold they were members at the time. A-Team also tried to strong-arm me (which orders on blackmail) by saying that they will expedite my claim ONLY IF I DISMISS MY CLAIM against them through the BBB. Now if they are not affiliated with them, why would they ask me that? I finally heard back from their claims department and they wanted to offer a sum of less than $50. Are you kidding me? They overestimated our weight by nearly 1000 pounds, we lose out on hundreds because of that, they destroy our things, they then try to strong-arm us and then offer a sum of less than $50??
I would much rather use that money to file a lawsuit against them. Seriously people, STAY AWAY FROM A-TEAM MOVING AND STORAGE! What I have said is 110% the truth and I have all the documentation to prove it.
