This company gave us a quote over the phone for around 2500 pounds the estimate came to $1265.00 (approx.) When he emailed us the actual qoute I double checked the list we gave him and every item we had was listed, and I checked the weight which was around 2600 pounds however the price was around $1600.00 instead of $1265.00 which he had originally told us over the phone so i called him back and said for the list of items I gave you and the weight you gave me you jacked the estimate up around $400.00. So he apologized and emailed me back a new quote which me being an idiot I only checked to make sure the price had matched not realizing or checking that he had taken off some of the heavier items from the list one of the tv's I had being one of the items and had dropped the weight down to 2200 pounds.
This is when I began to worry about this company then the movers actually showed up as many have claimed that have filed reports the foreman we had doesnt speak english and the other guy was not in the right frame of mind and were very unprofessional we had then paid them $700.00 in cash additional to the $150.00 deposit. So now we fast forward to them dropping of my stuff, the dispatcher there called me to let me know the total was $1800.00 now in my head im thinking okay my quote was for $1200.00 Im guessing i had extra weight so I was under the impression it was $1800.00 total which was $600.00 above the original quote which was no big deal until she explained to me that the total was not $1800.00 that's just what I owed the movers alone upon delivery to get my stuff on top of the $850.00 I already had paid them so my quote had went from $1200.00 for 2200 pounds to around $2600.00 so i asked her what my weight was and she said it was 3800 pounds thats when I lost it. Originally they wouldnt let me go with them to the weigh scale so i told her before they dropped my stuff off we were going to a weigh station and then after my stuff was dropped off we were going back to the weigh station.
So that morning I meet the movers at a weigh station not close to my home and they have the truck parked next to the scale before they would weight it they told me they would take 200.00 dollars of the price if it didnt go onto the scale and I should take the deal because if it weighs more than I will pay more which i responded well It shouldnt weigh more than 3800 pounds because you already weighed it right? Which his response was well we lost your contract and the weight ticket so I knew they had pulled some major b. S anyway to make this long story short i got it weighed before and after without letting them stop for fuel or anything because that could add another 600 pounds or more depending and the weight of all my items ended up being only 2600 pounds not 3800 pounds.
Advantage van lines ended up having to refund me over $1,000.00 which the foreman did on the spot I also took copies of the weight tickets. Of course these weight tickets that showed my items weighed 3800 pounds the company mysteriously lost. Probably because they never existed. Needless to say when shipping items meet the movers at a weight station before they pickup your items and make sure the gas tank is full when the vehicle is weighed empty and then go back with them once they have loaded up your items and weigh it again and obtain both copys of the weight tickets that will save you a million problems and make sure the company doesn't low ball your weight to get a good qoute because as soon as you go a pound over the quoted weight that's when you end up paying a crazy fee for every pound over. This company was no help to me when i questioned their methods and lie's my stuff was strapped to the back of the truck and was soaked upon delivery as well as other items being broken which i'm in the middle of the claim process now well see how that goes. Do not use this company no matter what.
