I've been unemployed for a little while and decided hey trucking sounds like great money, and way to see our great country. CRST is not very far from me so I decided to give them a call and see what they offer.
I talked to a guy Sam H, he told me I could come down and get my license through their training which lasted 2wks. Cool right? Hold on if that was all there was to it, would I be writting this report?
I had a couple violations, speeding and sam said wait unilt March and your driving record would be acceptable to us, ok, i can understand that.
Than came the additional times, 2wks soon turned into 2wks plus OTR training immediately after class, which made it 6wks, than he told me 3-4 day orientation, now we're up to seven wks, a little long but ok, than he told me after orientation another 2-3 wks on the road. Amazing how 2wks turns into almost 3 months! And oh yeah, you need to sign a 8month contract with them, not a big deal, until you start to think "If they treat you like this before your even hired, how much worse are they going to treat you once you're under contract?"
Its going to cost me some money to go to school and get my CDL but the money spent will be well worth it because I can than avoid being another idiot that get screwed over by this company.
This guys are so slick, they can sell ice to eskiomos and sand to arabs while screwing your wife in the a* with a smile on their face.
