I have been using the Verizon pay-as-you-go phone and decided to calculate the expense for each of the three plans that you can choose from to see which was cheapest. I had been spending so much money on my phone and thought it was because I was being careless.
You can choose Plan A: at. 99/day, B: at 1.99 or C: at 3.99 per day plans. Plan A and B have a lower base rate (. 99 or 1.99 per day) but you pay more by the minute the lower the base rate is. You pay the base rate every day you use your phone plus the cost of minutes.
After doing the math I calculated that each plan costs pretty much the same amount if you are using the phone for even just a half hour per day (It may seem like a lot of time if you are just making "a few quick calls" but it adds up incredibly quickly without you even realizing it), 15 days out of the month and the cost is RIDICULOUS.
The cheaper plans end up costing more than the 3.99 plan even for minimal use, and even though the 3.99 plan is unlimited talk, you get charged 3.99 for every day you use it even if you make a 2 minute call at 12:01 am.
So, you are being ripped off even worse for the pay as you go, because no matter what I do, if I use my phone for a half hour a day, only 15 days out of the month, I am spending AT LEAST 60.00 per month.
Do not get this phone. It seems like a great deal when you read the package, but when you start using it, you realize it is a total ripoff.
