I understand and have no problems with raising rates during special events, but when I went to Club New Orleans over the weekend, on Friday night, I was told by this big and very loud clerk that in addition to the rate hikes, there was an additional $20 minimum to get moved up on the waiting list for a room. I paid that too, but was never called for a room.
On Saturday I went earlier and although there was again a waiting list no mention was made of the additional surcharge, but that time I actually did get a room. A bit later in the evening I came up from the hot tub in time to see the cleaning attendant leaving my room. When I went up to him and asked what he was doing there, he told me in an extremely rude way to mind my own business.
A couple of days later I told my friend all about this and he got ahold of his friend who worked there up until about a year ago. He told us that what I described was common place, that they all knew who the theives are but have learned to never say anything because those selfsame employees are favotites of the manager an dto say anything about them was to get punished. He also told us that one the regular customers who used to spend hundreds of dollars a month there was targeted to be ripped off there by several employees including the manager who was standing right there when they were trying to figure out how best to do it. He said he wasnt surpised because they had all seen the manager go through accidentally left belonging and take home anything worth anything.
This is not about all of the employees, most of them are good decent guys who deserve better than to be associated with these theives
