Complaint / Review
40/40 club NY
I recently held a birthday party

I recently held a birthday party in a private room at the 40/40 club in NYC, the room was rented by me with pre-ordered food and beverages for an estimated 100 guests paid in full well ahead of the scheduled date of Jan 11. On the date in question problems arrived almost immediately as I arrived to find that management had dispatched a wait staff to solicit food and beverage orders from my guests with bill to be paid by them. I then requested that management not only stop this practice but also to have the wait staff removed from the room since in my contract I only requested the finger food that I ordered be brought out in 6 platters enough to feed the entire party. I also requested to make a formal complaint that this practice should never have taken place in the first place. Not only were the requests denied, management and staff thereby took on a hostile demeanor towards myself and my guests harrassing them more vigorously as it took more than an hour for my pre-ordered food to arrive. After I made an announcement to my guests that they did not have to place orders for food since I already paid for for it management then summoned more than three burly security members to go around the room intimidating me and my guests adding much confusion to the situation. When the beverages finally did arrive I was asked to leave my private room by security and called into a secluded area where I was acused of reselling liquour in my room. When I denied it and asked for proof I was shown none and let back into my party, this ocurred four times during the course of the night disturbing my guests and I as clearly it was intended to do and after the fourth time as I entered the room after a grilling I came upon the manager of the club actually pouring glasses of my private bottles to random guests and after I asked for an explanation I was given a lame excuse that the staff was not making enough tips on the night. After telling the manager how much she and her staff had violated me during the course of the night I felt myself being coerced into an argument, one that I knew not to play into. I then asked the manager to please leave the room which after a brief stare down she finally relented only to have a security member come in my room for what would be the last time as I was asked to step outside the club to speak again and when I complied I was then told I was not to re-enter the club not even to collect my belongings and I subsequently found out later that security then using such tactics of a military force stormed the room and demanded that all of my guests leave the private room but that they did'nt have to leave the club. I or my guests never received most of my pre-ordeded food or drinks and I never got to see my birthday cake but the club benefited from first me paying for everything then having wait service in the private room in lieu of my food and then with two hours left in the night with none of my food available my guests eventually had to use bar service and wait service in the regular club space. None of my guests were aware that I had been deceitfully expelled from the club and I had to in the following days explain to them what had transpired not even knowing myself totally why it happened and when I called the club to ask for an explanation I was given the runaround being told that the managers that night had called in sick the following days after the party and I would have to wait for them to give a full report which I am still waiting for six days later. My contract for the party was breached and I just want to be compensated for less than subpar treatment by the club. Thank you Daymion Hall email me at [email protected]
