My mother and her boyfriend were looking for a room to stay in that would be close to my residence. She found the Apache Junction Motel, which was AAA certified and therefore we assumed it had to be a decent place to spend the night.
Her and I drove over to the motel to take a look around and view a room and make sure she wanted to stay there before she payed for it. The manager gave her a key when she asked to view a room and she did. She then came up to me and said "There is somebody's things in that room. It looks as though it's still occupied."
She went back in and the manager told her that it was occupied but since she just wanted to view a room, what was the big deal? She told him that she hoped he would never hand out a key to her room since it's an invasion of privacy. This should have been a clue not to get the room and she knows that now but she did agree to the room for the night.
Her boyfriend went to the store and left her there for a bit. She was laying on the bed when the door opened and it was the manager! She asked him what he was doing and he said he was checking to make sure the door was locked and informed her that she needed to keep it locked at all times. She was in total shock and a little frightened so didn't get into an altercation but was understandably livid.
We don't know what the manager was truly coming into her room for and can only speculate but I do not think he was just checking to see if it was locked. I've never even heard of a room being entered by the manager while it is occupied. She could have been changing her clothes or they could have been being intimate. One assumes when they get a room that while the room is paid for by them it is theirs and theirs alone. This was so inexcuseable I just had to find a way to let someone know about it. Any suggestions as to what I can do?
