As a result of mounting medical bills, my parents were unable to make the January mortgage payment on time. My mother contacted Wells Fargo to make payment arrangements; she offered to make a partial payment explaining that the balance would be paid by February 1st. Wells Fargo refused to accept the payment. To add insult to injury, they call everyday, several times a day harrassing her for payment. She received a letter on 1/29/10 (dated 1/20/10) threatening to begin foreclosure proceedings if the payment is not received by the 31st. How can they do that? Typically, foreclosure does not begin until a homeowner is 90 days late. At the time the letter was received, my parents were less than 30 days late! Can someone please help them?!? Is there a way to get someone else to assume their mortgage? If the leukemia my father has been battling for the past two years doesn't kill him, the unnecessary stress that Wells Fargo is putting him under will!
