I'm reporting this business and this person for his practices because I have done some checking and I found that what he has done is illegal. I have found that he has illegally evicted myself and my fiancee from the property we were supposed to be renting to buy.
I also found that in our contract, it says to pay our payments as "rent" for a period of 6 months and afterward, an Indiana Board Of Realtors Purchase Agreement would then be executed. He breached this contract on this condition by not doing so and we had the house from 11/18-01/17.
When we were trying to make ends meet and having problems, we tried to still make things right. We got a letter one day saying that our arrangements were unacceptable. When next we saw him in person, he told my fiancee that he wanted us to vacate the property.
In the time we lived there, there were numerous electrical issues with the house (breakers flipping, bulbs blowing, and even noted to be melted wires in the breaker box, as well as wiring stripped out of the garage where there was no lighting in the garage). Also, we noted that the house had some other problems, for example the water faucet in the kitchen had to be replaced, which my fiancee and I purchased out of pocket and replaced.
There had even been problems with parts of the furnace failing, and when we called him about it, he said it was our problem and gave us an argument on coming out to fix the problem, while we were "renting" the house to begin with.in the argument, he also told us that if any more problems arose with the house and we called him, he would charge us for the run, the parts, and the labor, yet, we were only renting the property with no purchase agreement executed through the Board of Realtors.
The manager of the place we were "renting" from even had the audacity to come to where we were moving to in person, park across the driveway blocking it, and repeatedly knock on the door. When no answer, he did not take his leave, but sit there and continue to block the driveway with his vehicle. I estimate the time he blocked the driveway and sat there from the time of pull-up to departure to be about 10-15 minutes.
We also noticed a lot of the electrical outlets had problems with them. We went and purchased new outlets for the house and had them installed as well.
I would really like to know what my options are on this matter and what I can do. I don't have the receipts for the faucet or the outlets, but I do have the box for the faucet, I do have a notice he left demanding keys, and I have an electrician that could verify the electrical wiring in the breaker box having been melted.
Also, I got word that after he told us we could have pets there, he's run around calling my fiancee and I "White Trash" and saying he said we could not have pets there and if we did, we had to pay an extra amount, when he did say no such thing about the pets.
Please try to help me with this matter. He also said that if he takes us to court, he's going to go after everything for the total purchase of the house. How he can even do anything when he's breached his own contract and the law, I don't understand. I'm looking to you to see if maybe you could help me with this matter in any way.
