My Family rented a property from Real Property in Denver Colorado. The owner of the house decided to sell the property. We followed everything required by Real Property when moving out. We cleaned the house, had the carpets professionally cleaned ($375-Receipt provided when the house was inspected. The tech who cleaned the carpet said that the carpet was worn.) and made sure the property was in "ready to move in condition". While in the house, (with the permission of both the owner and Real Property) we painted two of the bedrooms. We recently got what was left of our $1800 deposit ($178). We were charged over $900 to paint the two rooms back to a neutral color, and over $600 for carpet cleaning. We lived in the house for 5 years. During that time, we had issues with the electrical systems, the water heater and the furnace. We had to wait three years to have a badly cracked kitchen floor replaced properly. I understand that they are a company who main goal is to make money for both themselves and for the property owners, but this is ridiculous. Unfortunately, calling Real Property and trying to resolve this is pointless.
