I bought a First Texas Home and can tell you they use shoddy materials and have horrible worksmanship. One of the most glaring problems is with the electrical wiring. I've had to call the electrician out a few times to fix problems with the power going out in rooms. Then one electrician told me that the wiring was reversed in many of my electrical outlets. When I tried to change a light switch, I found out that they did not use the correct universal coloring scheme for the wiring. All of the wires in the box were black! As anyone who has worked with electrical wiring knows, black/red is positive, white is neutral, and green/bare is grounding. There is absolutely no excuse for wiring everything black and it could end up getting someone killed.
Another problem I had was that the geniuses decided to put the water pressure regulator under the driveway. When it went bad and I needed to have it replaced, the plumber told me they would have to rip up my driveway. Of all the places to put the WPR, why put it under the driveway? Then when the upstairs bathroom pipe leaked due to the WPR malfunction, the plumber had to cut a hole in the ceiling below to fix the leak. When I tried to fix the hole, I found out that the ceiling was sagging badly due to the fact that they did not install support beams in order to nail the ceiling up in its correct place. I figure a drunken chimpanzee could have done a better job putting a house together than the braindead dope who built and supervised the building of my house.
