Circuit City Promotion - High Speed Internet

The Comcast Internet offer at Circuit City stores appears to be a scam.

I signed up in store at Circuit City.
I was given a modem (free after rebates).
Promised a $19.99 rate or 6 months and a $75 rebate.

The salesperson entered the order including the modem MAC number and gave me a confirmation code. The install kit was supposed to be in the modem box.

Just hook thinks up and your on the internet. After the first Comcast bill, the rebates cab be submitted.

Sounds great.

The modem did not have the install kit. No problem. I found a splitter and coax cables and installed the modem.

The PC would only connect to a Comcast site which gave a phone number to call to activate the modem.

Called. Got a Comcast rep, who has no record of the internet service order.
He connects me to a tech, who activates my modem and sends me back to the rep.
The intro rate is now $35 for three months. There is no record of the lower rate.

Back to Circuit City. A manager call Comcast and get the rate changed to the lower intro rate.

After the first bill, I submitted three rebates to CCityrebates.com. All are denied because the cable bill is not valid.

Back to Circuit City. A manager has tried to refile the rebate submissions to Comcast.

Another problem. No Comcast.net login.
Tried on-line chat and email. No one at Comcast can give me login.

The promotion is tempting, but probably a scam.
