Do They Know what They are doing or Talking About?

I ordered the Double Play (Digital Cable & High Speed Internet) through Comcast Cable Offers aka Broadband Offers via the internet for my mother / The offer included a Wireless Cable Modem. I received an email from the company with a phone number to call to arrange installation of the modem.

In the course of scheduling the hookup, they reduced the monthly price $3.00 for the first six months, added that I would receive an HD box for free (I didn't order HD service), and scheduled the installation for Friday, January 23rd.

I scheduled the installation, received a price of $39.99 for the service (I expected to pay the service) The techs arrived and connected the TV, but after climbing through the attic, said that cable was not set up. They rescheduled installation for Tuesday, January 27. The tech stated that there was wiring for internet service, and installed only the Comcast Cable Modem.

I had to call to activate the modem, and to schedule a followup appointment for installation of the wireless modem. They transferred me to someone named Ann who informed me that what Comcast Cable Offers sent me was a wireless router, not a modem, and that they only installed the company's modem. If I wanted the, "router" installed, I would have to pay an additional service charge.

The funny thing is, the tech said the installation of the company's modem was free.

I would like the modem that I have installed for the price that Comcast Cable of Indiana quoted: $39.95.
