I bought my laptop in Jan. 2008 and it crashed the first time I booted it up. I called Dell and a technician walked me through reinstalling Vista. It works for a wk or so, then files begin to corrupt, the screensaver quits, it removes my admin privileges, then the blue screen starts. Their only solution is to reinstall windows. They've replaced the hard drive 2x and it makes no difference. It took them 11 months to discover the Bios needed updating - that stopped the blue screen but not the other problems. My warranty expires in 3 days and I still have a computer that has to have windows reinstalled every 6-8 wks (I'm about to reinstall for the 7th time in 12 months). I've had "memory management" errors several times but can't get them to replace the memory because it always passes the "diagnostics" test. I've had 3 mgrs tell me they would "stick with me" til it's resolved, they give me their extension # but NEVER return my calls. They make it impossible to file a complaint with anyone in authority and this has been a Customer Service Nightmare. DON'T BUY A DELL! I know I'll never own another one.
