Bad lens - optical lens

I am a dedicated sears customer. I bought sears glasses 14 months ago and now the sears optical manager tells me my lens is flaking off but they ran out of warranty so i have to purchase a new pair. Is this what is going to happen to my new ones? Do i have to replace my glasses every 14 months? If so you can count me out as a customer? That is just wrong!!!
