Unwilling to cancel

I got an automated phone call about "lowering interest on your card", and, having received several of these calls, I finally called back to see 'which one".
After giving them my info, and agreeing to go ahead with the $15.90 processing fee, I told my husband what I'd done. To make a (very) long story short, I called WITHIN 30 MINUTES of hanging up with them to cancel as we did not need their services after all, and was connected with a live answering service WHO WAS ABSOLUTELY CLUELESS AND HAD NO IDEA WHY THE PHONE CALL WAS FORWARDED TO HER. My stomach flipped and I knew I'd been had. I called the credit card company, was told they couldn't block any company from putting charges on my card, but could change my account # so they'd be unable to access my account. This happened on a THURSDAY; it is now TUES. They called today wanting me to call the card company to allow them access to my account. I explained that I did not need their services and I was trying to cancel. She ARGUED with me and would not let me say no.
I was again put in contact with the original sales person, Amy, who argued with me and telling me, basically how foolish I was for not wanting to save money. I told her I'd discussed this with my husband, we didn't need it, etc. And wanted to speak to someone so we could say we want to cancel, and be done with it. She got belligerent (to be nice) and wanted to speak with my husband (we think she thought I was an abused wife and he was controlling me and she was going to give him a piece of her mind). Unbeknownst to her, I listened in on the other extension. He pretty much told her what I did and she began telling ME how much debt we had and we needed to get it lower. She just would not take no for an answer. After arguing with her and telling her we really did not need her services, and thank you (through which she was arguing with him the whole time) he finally said "we're done, maam; good-bye" and hung up the phone because he was getting nowhere with her. After he hung up, she yelled over the phone "Well, f* you!"
This really ticked me off, and I called the 800 number I was given and gave a complaint against her and explained the whole story to her. I do not use language like that and do not want anyone else to use language like that toward me.
Needless to say, my new card should be here any day now, without them gaining access to it.:)
