I recieved a nonofficial looking letter along with a very real looking check. I did take the check to the bank and they went a head and tried it out. It came back NS, nonsufficient funds.
The letter said that I had been choosen for a compensation drawing from Publisher's Clearing House for $100,000.00 and was sent a check for $3,760.00 and was told to call a Fred Jackson. He told me to deposit it then take out $2,522.99 to pay through MoneyGram for Non-Resident Govt. Service Tax and Incurance.
I was told by my bank that they would send the check through and we would see if it was real, so far it is looking doubtful. Then I decided to do some investigating and found this website. I am appalled that I am not the only one that they have tried to do this to.
I would like to see this stopped.
