North American Direct Sweepstakes and Promotion Co. Sent me a letter claiming that I had won 125,000 dollars in a sweepstakes held on July 4. Enclosed with the letter was a check for 3,995 dollars. I was immediately suspicious. The letter is not on formal stationary and the name Countrywide Financial Corporation is at the top of the letter with North American's name underneath. They also claim to be representing Publiser's Clearing House. The letter instructs me to call Mr. Don Walter at 778-318-5088 before acting on the letter. Also There is no return adress on the envelope, and despite the company having a California Adress, the letter was postmarked in Canada. I immediately performed an internet search and found this website and others who have been affected by this company.
