I am a former employee of the southeast waffles corp, west nashville store location.in july i voluntarily terminated my employment because i felt that i was being treated unfairly, when my mother sudenly fell ill and i had noone else to watch my 8 yr old daughter.
When it came time to receive my paycheck, i called the location that i was working for and they told me that it was being mailed to me. Two weeks had passed and i had not received my paycheck. I called the location to obtain the orporate office's number and my district manager intercepted the call when the employee that answered the phone told him that someone was wanting the number for corporate office. He had asked me to come in and have a meeting with him and the general manager of the store. Two days later i did go in and talk to them both and they offered my job back and i accepted it because i did need a form of income.
When the negotiations were said and done and i was rehired, the store manager slid my check in an envelope with my name on it across the table. I thought it was being mailed to me and they had it in their possesion the entire time. THAT'S AGAINST THE LAW!!! I went back to work and the next week i was owed a check from my last week there and i never received it the date of work that i was owed for was july 10.
After a couple months being employed with them again, they decided to triple my work load for a second shift grill operator. After working that for a few weeks i had a series of pops in my knee that caused excruiating pain and i had to eventuallyseek medical treatment. The pops happened at work, i was barely able to put any weight on it by the end of my shift and i notified my manager in training whom was on duty and he said that it wasnt his problem. I missed a day because i couldnt apply weight to my leg.
I had a weekend off and on monday september 15 i came back to work from my weekend off. Again a series of pops happened again due to the tripled work load and 3 page cleaning lists that they had often left for me that the entire shift was to complete and i was the only one doing any of the cleaning, if i didnt do it they would write me up. (i know this because they were writing me up for other shifts not doing their work and those shifts would tell them that it was me that didnt get done when my list was checked off everyday)
I wound up going to the doctor the next day and was injected with cortisone and lidocane deep into my joint. The doctor wanted me to take 3 days off and i told him i couldnt take but one off, so that is what i did. When i returned to work on september 17, i was relieved of my grill operator duties and placed on the floor as a server with 2 other people on the floor on second shift who were lazy and didnt want to work (work release ppl) so that was going to triple my work load once again and yet they would sit around and do nothing or be on their cell phones the entire shift. I would write tickets for their customers yet they would go by and take the money off the table cause it was in their section.
There is no money on that shift and what they do when no money is being made they take a % of sales for the week and apply it to tips to make up for the 6.55 min wage (they do that whether or not you make tips when serving). I was not about to be accounted for more tips than i would make and i wasnt going to make any money so i voluntarily terminated my employment again.
On september 18 i had written a letter for my mother to have permission to pick up my check that was from the week before, they handed her my check with no problem. The following week which was september 25 i was owed my final paycheck. I called my location and asked them to leave it under the register and i would come and pick it up. I was told again then that my check was being mailed to me. Oh not this again is what i thought.
It is now janurary 13 and i have yet to receive my check from july 10 or the last check owed from september. I have gone through the chain of command of the company and i have even contacted several people at the coprorate office, clarence (area manager, kevin (district manager), kim (general manager), Barbra (over payroll), roslyn (Over whatever it is she does) and i have left several messages for a charles yancy (suppsive head honcho there at corporate but im beginning to think he is a figment of everyones imagination cause he is never there). They say it has been mailed to me but they sent it to a PO box that i have not had in a year and a half and i did turn in a change of address form to my store manager.
I have made several calls a week since october 1 and i am getting no calls reguarding this and nothing has been done. They refuse to stop payment and reissue the earnings because "IT COST TOO MUCH MONEY TO DO SO!"
When i finally get my W-2's there is going to be income listed that i never received. They may have mailed my checks to me (to a po box ive not had in a year and a half and i confirmed physical address when i called corporate the first time about this) but i have not endorsed them so furthermore i didnt get paid. So when my W-2's come in there is going to be falsified income on there along with the tips that i didnt make and i also talked to my store manager about counting my tips infront of her everynight when i waited tables and i was refused to be able to do so.
I also think its not fair that the employees dont get meal breaks unless your under the age of 18, but yet we were deducted for meals that we did not consume. WTF!!! Thats not right at all... We bust our butts just so others can sit and do nothing and they dont get wrote up for it but i did everytime???
This has been going on since july with my earnings that i worked and litteraly hurt my self over and now it is janurary and i still dont have my income... Someone needs to get off their butts at corporate office and do something and quick this isnt right.
