I received a Salute Visa in the mail last summer and paid a fee to activate it. I contacted the company to find out about my payment date. The date was a few days from the day that I received my pay. I expressed my concerns about it and had been informed that I had a 21 day grace period, so there would be no problem.
I have been paying my card two days late for the past three months. Last month they charged me a late fee for the first time. Most of the time they charged me fees claiming that my check had bounced (I never paid them with checks) and I could never get the charges removed. I have not received any correspondence of any problems with my account. I use my checking account for purchases; I only got the card to build up my credit. When I tried to use my card for a car rental, I was declined. I contacted the card company and asked why. They told me that my card was cancelled because I was "habitually late" and that the 21 day grace period does not exist. I have already filed a complaint with the FTC and I will with my state consumer advocacy group, but I thought that this site would be more effective so I came here as well.
Stay away from Salute Visa! They are scam artists! They continued to send me bills and I continued to pay them without a word from them that they had cancelled my account. I am trying to rebuild my credit and it has be set back before I could make a step forward. Salute Visa is a disgusting institution with no business ethics. They love to take your payments, but they never want to give you credit.
