I, too, was a victim of this company (which, I understand, is no longer in existence). I was solicited by Salute Visa in early 2008. I received the credit card in the mail and made my payments as per the agreement. For being a "good customer", they increased my credit limit. It was when I had to cancel my credit cards because I'd lost my wallet that I was informed that they would be discontinuing the program. So I had no card, no replacement card, yet was stuck with a large bill, which I have since paid. My problem is that it now shows up on my credit report as "credit account closed by consumer"—when in actuality, all I did was cancel my lost credit card and the company discontinued the program. I filed a counter-report, where they denied canceling the program and said that I was the one who canceled the card. I am FURIOUS, because I am trying to repair my credit, and I know that canceling a credit card that you've only had for a short period of time (a few months) lowers a credit score.
