I paid my bill. Moved north of phx. No coverage. Closed account. Said i would get refund. Didnt happend

I paid my cricket bill on march 3 in the amount of $49.11. I move from phx to prescott valley. So i get up here and there is no coverage. I call cricket and close my account. Iam told i well recieve a refund.in about aweek or too. That was over 6 months ago. I have called there corperate offices.in tulsa ok. And there telling me i was denied a refund because i closed my account after the billing cycle? Now how was i to know that. I feel like i realley got the short end of the stick here. They know nothing about p.R. I well never use cricket again. I would rather use a public phone then have cricket service. They are ripoffs!
