I am p.O.'d by these banner ads. What I have found out by playing with the channels is that they are added or removed based on the channels you select to have in your favorites. For example if you put the channels that are directed at women (Oxygen, Lifetime) as two of your Favorite channels then you get an ad for the Jewelry channel (Home Shopping Network). If you take one of these channels out then the HSN ad gets removed. If I want to see ads I tune to a channel and watch or don't watch their commercials. I am not sure how they can legally place advertising in the channel guide. What I have been doing is telling DISH and COMCAST about this practice and they can use it against DirectV in their advertising wars. If enough people complain and switch to other carriers then they will listen. BTW this only happens on the HD receivers. We still have the SD receivers and they don't get these banner ads. If I wasn't so tied to the NFL Ticket I would have switched to DISH already.
