I am a single parent. Raising my son on my own! Which is why I was so excited to learn I had been hired by Beall's outlet after having been looking for a job with better pay for a while... When I arrived at my first interview, I was then informed that I would be MANAGER at the Homestead store. Not too long after that, they held a second interview with me. Only this time, there was a man there doing the second interview, and there were two more girls there... At that time they informed me that I would be starting as shift supervisor until background checks come in. Well that was only a three day wait so I didn't think anything of it. I jumped on the opportunity quick being the fact I had been working as manager for another company that wasn't even paying me half of what "Beall's outlet" promised me...
On that day, I read all the manuals, rules, and regulations - and afterwards, I anxiously signed the employee contract. Not knowing that that would come back to hunt me... I had been working for Bealls for a while and begin to realize that they were not forthcomming AT ALL reguarding all the promises they had made me at the beginning. I didn't want to lose my job... MY ONLY JOB! And not be able to provide for my son all because I acted out in an irrational way. But after months and months of coming in, performing all my task, and everyone telling me how good of a worker I was - only to recieve my paycheck and see that they had cheated me once again ($400.00 to $500.00 at a time) I was very hurt and angry! I begin to ask guestions, and they would always promise me that I would see my money on the next check, but to no avail... After a while I begin to grow tired of the mistreatment and lies. So I begin to call the corperate office to see if anything could be done. They would either get rude, or hang up. Well anyway, I gave it one last shot and tried to discuss this issue with my manager, only to come to work that next day and be handed down termination papers! I knew I had done nothing wrong and I WANTED ANSWERS! Before I left I asked to speak with the head manager reguarding my money that I felt had been practically stolen from me. Once again, they apologized for it and told me I'll have a check in the mail by the next week. That check never came. And when I finally got in touch with someone again reguarding my money, and informing them that I was ready to take this matter to court, Charles (store manager) just laughed and said to me "yeah, true enough we owe you, but how are you going to prove it? - you signed the employee contract stating that we were only responsible for making sure that you got $7.00 an hour-sorry"... I felt so hurt! But my hands were tied... There was nothing that I could do but sit and cry! And by the way, I went back over my checks and added my hours up to $7.00 an hour... I wasn't surprised to see that I had still been cheated! But I'm so glad that I found "rip off report". Thanks for allowing me to share my story.
