Well where do I begin? I'll start by telling you I found an ad in the paper saying $20/hr to start. I was just recently unemployed so I thought I would go for an interview. When I had arrived I was greeted by a person and i don't know if I am allowed to include names in this report so i will just say he was the human resource hiring manager. After about a half hour talking he then shook my hand and said i was hired and to discuss the opportunity with my husband.
I then left and picked up my husband from his job and told him. He then called the same person over the phone and he was asked how he heard about the position. My husband told him that his wife was just hired and as i was he as well was offered an interview. He went to the interview and as like i did he got the job.
The day we started the trainer asked if we were related. We were then quite confused we said no we are married. He said same differance. That is when it all began with the discrimination.
While we were in the training room the trainer had made comment after comment about differant levels of racial slurs and derogatory comments towards a couple of the people in the class. There was only 9 of us. This was only within the first 1-2 hours. The trainer as well told my husband that his military training was nothing but B* S*, he then came back with the fact that they are the ones supplying the courses for the military.
That was his first problem now for mine. I am pregnant and at the time of hiring i was 6 months pregnant and showing so they cant say they didn't know. I needed to use the rest room and was told no I had to wait till break. I was not too happy about this i felt as if this was mistreatment of an employee.
At the end of the day we were asked if the hiring manager had talked to us we said no. Why? He said well you will just have to go talk to him to find out. So we went into the office and sat and talked to him. He said if he new that we were married he would have never hired us, but after talking he then realized we did tell him. Then he had also exclaimed that if he new i was pregnant he would have never hired me alone for that reason alone.
That was just day 1 of the 2 days we were there. The next day we showed up we were in class till 3 pm when i received a phone call from my aunt and she had told me my grandfather was in the hospital and they didn't know how it would turn out. So i requested to leave and my husband wont let me deal with it on my own so he requested to come with me as well. That is when the ceo came to us to make a decision right then and there. Who is going to stay with the company and who is going to resign.
He needed an answer right then and there and my husband nor i were going to discuss this in front of them. So we said we would get back to them about it and that is when they said we are sorry that is not the answer we need. We then left and said we would be back for our pay. They said that the checks would be ready on friday at noon.
We arrived there at noon and no checks, they said to come back at 5pm. So we came back and got our checks but before we could get our checks they made us sign papers saying that we quit but we didn't but that was the only way they would give us our checks.
We then went home and started searching about the fair employment acts for the state of fl. And they are in the wrong in many laws that they fall under. Like discimination, harrassment, and prenancy. We still have the policy books and handbook.
At that point I thought we were all through with the company but after about two weeks we both received letters saying in it that we need to return everything we had of CBT's and that we need to contact them with our address so they can send us our w-2's after we return thier information. There is much more but this was just in short.
