I recently experienced this place and my story is like the others. They make it seem like only a few people are being offered this job, but everyone with a pulse is considered good enough. I went in and actually went to my second interview. I immediately knew something was a bit odd when I walked in and it sounded like a fricken high school pep rally going on in a conference room. They really don't tell you what you're getting into (walking in to businneses and tyring to sell them something, in my case Quill). Luckily, the girl that was my leader or whatever was really cool and nice. She could tell I was put off immediately by the whole walking in to random businesses thing and never pushed the idea onto me, so I hung around all day
I got a kick out of her and the things she would say to the businesses, but it is clear to me she along with everyone else in the company are going to end up losing in the end. I did ask about her mileage compensation, she told me it was a tax write-off. I didn't press further, but I hope she doesn't expect full reimbursement like a legit company would give you, because that ain't gonna happen (their salespeople aren't independent contractors, so I am very sure the tax benefits are minimal not full) I also asked if there was any base pay; she said yes, but i suspect its all commission, and after a day of no real sales for her I felt really bad for her
It was an interesting day to say the least. I lost some money because I went to this interview instead of working at my other job, but I actually had a decent time... But I can't imagine doing this every day and not getting my promised "promotion" which apparently is what happens. This company is really shady, and I feel bad for the people that will be screwed in the end.
