I have been trying to get a hearing at wayne county friend of the court since 2000. I am a police officer with the city of detroit for 20 years. I have solely supported my two childern since they were born. They are now 14 and 17 years old. I can't get a hearing at foc at all. I recive not a dime of child support and, can't even get custody in my name. I have a 19 year old daughter by another woman who had no problem getting child support from my paycheck from the time she was born. Not only was it not a problem foc decided to take it for one extra year with no justification. They have yet to answer to this and i'm sure never intend to. This child support stopped one month ago and. Low and behold this pay check instead of keeping the 171.00 that they kept for 19 years they took 240.00.
When i called my payroll they said there were two more new orders filled by foc to garnish my wages only there not for my 19 year old. They are for my 14 and 17 year old to pay back welfare. I found out the mother was claiming welfare for my childern in 1999 and had her funds cut off for welfare fraud. They did not prosecute the mother and, now there in my paycheck once again but, this time i'm paying back money that the mother stole from the government. The foc is a joke they do nothing for a father raising their kids but, if it is a mother they have no problem getting what they want. I'm fed up with this extortion and, i want answers. The city already pays me a lowsy paycheck and, now their court systems want to steal the little bit i do have. Pretty soon i won't make enough money to feed my childern. I bet if i did that they wouldn't have a problem making an example out of me and, charging me with child abuse. If anyone else is having this problem i'd love to hear from you including attorney's that are looking for a class action law suit.
