Wayne County Friend of the Court is no friend of ours. They say my husband owes almost 40,000. Child support comes out of his check. His 16 year old daughter moved in with us a over a year ago. We went to court and got custody of her and the ex was told she would have to pay support to us but we don't know when its going to start or how much its going to be.
FOC says that part of that 40,000 is for ADC (that the ex drew illegally) FIA can't find any information on them being in the system so we can get the dates she was on ADC. FIA printed out the screen on their system stating they are not found anywhere.
His last dealings with FOC was not to long ago and he had a court appointed attorney. The attorney treated him like he was dog crap on the bottom of his shoe. My husband and I spent many long hours gathering all of the info we needed to prove we don't owe all that money and the attorney wouldn't even let him open up his briefcase. The attorney asked the ex if she pays child support for her daughter and she said " I don't have to because I don't work" and the attorney said okay. Now $222.00 is coming out of my husbands check every week for money we don't owe. We aren't rich people. We live in a two bedroom townhouse and our daughter from his first marriage and the daughter that my husband and myself have both share a room. While the ex lives in a real nice house with her husband and their kids. It's not fair.
My husband knows he owes some back child support (he was laid off) and he has no problem paying but 40,000 give me a break. Did FOC throw in some extra cash for them?
