ShopNBC advertised on TV, October7 an AcerAspireAMD 1.8GHZ notebook on sale for $909.99, with a $100.00 mail in rebate. I purchased this item as a Christmas present, and asked the telephone customer service representative, since this was a gift, would there be a problem with either receiving rebate, or possible return. She said she would make a note, assured me that there would be 'no problem'.
I placed the order, computer arrived on October 10. Box was gift wrapped and opened Christmas. When I started to process the rebate offer, to be processed by OnRebate.com, I found out that the offer was only applicable on purchases made from November 1 to November 30.
When I called shopNBC to discuss how the rebate would be honored, Customer Service said that there was nothing they could do, nor could I return the computer, because it was over the 30 day refund date.
I really feel that this was pure and simple false advertising, and I'm out $100.00.
