An example of False Advertisement and Lack of Business Ethics Ripoff

On January 16 I made a huge personal and financial mistake. After being extremely impressed with their win win add on TV, claiming thousands upon thousands of dollars in savings by signing up with them (Directbuy), I made the stupid mistake of many others as I can see.

I attended their local rushed, pushed, shoved sales presentation in their location referenced here. Once again, I was convinced that it was a good deal, and proceeded to sign their contract, gave $600. Down and finance a whooping $4,100. Additional including interests of 17%.

For the next few months I explored their useless internet sites aimlessly without being able to retrieve any worthwhile information. Later I found from the franchise ownership itself, that the main site is still going on an over 2 year multimillion dollar restoration with an unknown date of completion at this point. This restoration to make it accessible at best.

I found the catalogs very difficult to use, if you add the lack of interest from the sales personnel in helping, specially if you express frustation over their inability to deliver.

I wrote a letter to the ownership requesting cancellation and refund of what I had paid so far. All I got back was a response in which in six different paragraphs the Florida Law was cited, and the fact that I had 3 days to cancel the contract. Three days do not allow to get acquainted with any business, much less with the complex system Directbuy has. Three days did not allow for the orientation training to be scheduled, to at least get the basics of the operations. Three days do not allow you to realize that you can get better pricing on the same quality of goods goods they sell on the outside without making much effort, thus defeating their main point of sale, which is the significant savings that are nothing but a lie.

In my letter cited above I listed several samples of Large Appliances, Living room and Bedroom furniture, Patio furniture that were less expensive than theirs. Their allegations were that they not allways meet the lowest price, nor they can compete with companies that are able to buy large lots of merchandise nor with merchandise being liquidated. I don't know what is it that they can compete with. Since then I went elsewhere to furnish my house and purchase all Large Appliances, and at a considerably lower price that DirectBuy offers it.

I could go on to writte a book on this cheap scam.in conclussion I stopped paying the financing company after the fifth payment, because after having paid in excess of $1,700. I refuse to continue paying. Of course the Finance company has reported me and my wife the co-signer to the credit bureau to ruin our credit.

I don't know what to do next. I am willing to join any class action suit. I am willing to pursue this to whatever extent is neccessary. I will like feedback from anyone.
