I worked as a nurse at Fort Hudson Nursing home for over 6 years. My daughter worked there as a dietary aide. During the last few months of my employement in the facility I saw repeatedly that staff were coming into work ill. With anything from flu symptoms to bronchitis and diahrea and vomiting. The reason for this is that the staff are afraid of being punished or fired for calling off. One time I had a dietary aide working on my floor bringing food to my patients she was coughing and sneezing all over everything I took her temperature and it was 102. It was clear to me that this girl was too ill to be at work much less endangering the patients she was coming into contact with..
I told her supervisor about this and he " Seth Pitts" ended up sending her to another wing to work. When I asked her if she was going home she said no I am going to D wing, I said why she said that Seth told her that B wing didnt want her working there so go to D wing to work. SO not only did she contaminate B wing she also contaminated D wing. About three or four days later both wings were under quarenteen for the same symptoms this girl had. The thing is elderly people die from illnesses other people can handle..
My daughter worked there for 3 years. She had just worked 10 16 hour shifts in a row and became ill with vomiting and diahrea. SO she called off. She was too sick to go to work and not safe to be around those patients. When she returned to work the next day still not feeling good she was fired for calling off. Ok so she is supposed to go into work and cook food and deliver it to elderly people while she is having active vomiting and diahrea. What are these people thinking. Please if you have a family member in Fort Hudson watch closely and make sure staff is not endangering you loved on.
