Fairfield Resorts
Ripoff

I was called by Fairfield Telemarketers and offered a deal fo a 3-day/2-night vacation for $69.00 in Destin, FL. I listened to the offer and agreed, since I have been on several time share opportunity vacations in the past. I even agreed to pay an additional $156.00 for an upgrade in lodging to stay at the Embassy Suites Hotel instead of their normal low class motels.

This original call was made in early April '06. The trip was to take place the 1st weekend in June.in May, it was determined that I need to reschedule reservations, and called the number to talk to Fairfield Resorts Travel Counselors, and was able to change the dates to the 2nd weekend in July. I was mailed out a confirmation sheet with the changed dates shortly there after.

Everything seemed set to go, vacation plans were set and we were awaiting a trip to Florida for vacation. Then on July 3rd, (3 days before I was supposed to check-in) I recieved another letter from Fairfield Resorts, this time stating that my lodging was now being located at a Destin Resorts & Inn. Which according to the pictures on their web site looks like nothing other than a run down Days Inn.

I immediately called Fairfield Resorts and after no success of finding out what happened to my additional money for the upgrade and why I was staying in a sub-standard motel, I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was put on hold for over 15 mins before being disconnected.

I then called the Fairfield Destin Welcom Center located in Destin, FL. This was to be the location I was to check into on 7/6, so I thought they could help me with my lodging arrangements. They were sympathetic, but offered no assistance. They gave me another number for Fairfield Resorts Main Office located in south Florida.

I then called the number give: 800-648-0852, and talked to a lady named Tony. I went through the entire story AGAIN as to what has occured and wanting to know why my upgrade was not transferred with my reservation date change. Tony advised that there was no more space available at the Embassy Suites Hotel, and my only lodging arrangements were the listed Destin Suites & Inn. I demanded that Fairfield Resorts either honor their end of the agreement and provide the lodging that I paid extra money for, or I would not honor my side and cancel my trip all together. Tony continueally put me on hold to either do research, or try to get answers for which she was unable to either answer or unable to make any decisions on her own. I again kept asking to talk to a supervisor and was continueally placed on hold, for 1 time for as much as 25 mins. While waiting, only to have Tony return to the phone to advise that the supervisor was too busy to answer my phone call. After over an hour on the phone, it was determined that the lady that changed my reservations in May, changing my trip date from June to July, did not also transfer my hotel upgrade. However, Fairfield Resorts also did not ever send me any notification that I no longer had the upgrade available and they never made an attempt to refund the $156.00 I paid for the hotel upgrade.

The phone call ended with Tony advising that her supervisor "Doug", was working to try to get lodging at the Embassy Suites and that he would call me before end of business day on 7/3. Tony advised that they were open to 11:00pm est. At 7:00pm, i called Fairfield Resorts to try to get an update, and was told that they were still working on my issue and would call back shortly. I called Fairfield again at 9:00pm and got a recording saying that all offices were closed for the holidays.

I had been taken once again!!! I am to the point that not only do I want a refund of my upgrade of $156.00, but I also want a full and complete refund of the $69.00 from this trip and a payment of $69.00 that was also paid for for another trip to be taken 6 mos. After this first trip. Fairfield Resorts owes me $296.00!!!

I am still fighting this issue and will go to court if this is what it takes to get my money back. I hate being lied to in any sense of the matter. Wed morning (7/5) I will be back on the phone to continue my fight. I will update when a resolution is reached.
