My husband and i went to covenant transport right out of truck driving school. They promise more miles and more pay. Also they would let us train togehter in the same truck.
While training for seven weeks we got great miles but only 13 cents a mile (which we were not told about until we arrived at chat). There was a problem with one of the trainers sexually harrassing the female students. We and several other drivers brought this to covenants attention. Well who do you think they tried to place us with. That's right him. Chester the molester.
We finally got that straightened out after several days. We were then placed with a triner that had never trained before. This trainer was great at first. But at the same time would not allow both of us to drive. One of us drove for 2o some odd hours straight, but we were told to log it so it looked good.
After training was over, reality checked in. We were a team. We weould be dispatched on 300 to 500 mile runs then have to sit and wait 3 to 6 days. This happened all the time. We were dealing with dispatchers that were rude and even cussed us on occasion.
They would make you sit for days on end but before your 48 hours were up to start getting layover pay they would move us 30 miles so they would not have to pay us. The 48 hours wait would restart. This went on for 9 days. The more we complained the more we got the shaft.
We were lied to from the time we talked to a recruiter to the day we left. This place is a nightmare. They made it no secret that were are getting government money for students and didn't care if you stayed or not.
When we finally had enough we found another job. We let them know. We had to go to a terminal to drop off the truck. Well we had to sit at a rest area for 4 days because they would not get us a load. We were then cussed again and told that if we moved from that rest area before they told us we could, for any reason, they would repoort the truck stolen. We didn't know if they could do that or not but didn't want to take the chance
so we waited it out. And finally got home.
Something need to be put into effect such as a bill sent to congress or something that will prohibit trucking companies from out and out telling all the lies to people.
