Covenant Transport
Working for nothing ripoff

I worked for Covenant Transport for approximately 6 months. I went thru their training program, which consisted of one trainer and 2 students on one truck. None of us knew each other til we met in Chattanooga. Not the best conditions in which to teach or learn, we spent 45 days on that truck, very cramped and very stressful.

After the training program myself and the other student teamed up for the rest of our training period another 30 days on the road.

Covenant has a dedicated freight division, that if you listen to their promo claims: " our dedicated drivers have at least 6 months experience ". I was put with that team. I was promised $7.50 for each hook and unhook and $15.00 for each live load/unload, also detention pay after 2 hours and layover pay after 24 hours. I ran with their dedicated division team for 2 weeks. I had very shoddy equipment-trailors one i had to pull with the landing feet only 2 inches off the ground for 45 miles, another one the sliding tandem bar was not completely welded to the frame, i pulled that one from western Alabama to Garden City, Ga with 43,000 pounds on it. When I received my paycheck i was not paid for and live loads or unloads and only 4 drop and hooks, i was cheated out of 240.00 one week and 360.00 another week.

On the last load I had to sit for over 29 hours for the load and i was paid neither detention nor layover pay. I sat in Rincon, Ga 4 out of 7 days being sent on 130 mile runs and only getting paid $. 255 cents a mile.instead of the. 29 cents that dedicated drivers are told to make. I didnt get this pay due to the fact that I didnt have 6 months experience. Covenant has done nothing but lie and cheat me out of my money for my time. I did the work and I expected to be paid for my time energy and efforts but I wasnt.

When I tried to discuss this with my dispatcher he yelled at me, screamed at me, advised me I wasnt entiteled to anything because he chose not to pay me. I requested to spead to his supervisor and he advised I couldnt spead to anyone else and hung up on me, I am not stupid I went thru other channels and got his supervisors name and extention. I called numerous times and left numerous voice mails explaining the situation and I have still yet to hear from anyone. I honestly hope no one chooses this company to start their professional truck driving career with. It is not worth it!
