We hired Scott Stidham of Quality Drain Systems to correct a drainage problem with our garage. He tore out the cement around a french drain in front of the garage doors, lowered the drain and redid the cement work, by sloping it toward the drain. He gave us a 5 year guarantee on his work. We paid him $1700. With the first rainfall we still had water coming into our garage. We called him and he came out and said the problem wasn't with his work it was with the rubber under the garage doors. He said that he could order a high quality rubber strip for both garage doors and install it for us and that would take care of the problem. He charged us an additional $425 for materials and labor... Which he wanted up front. We gave him a check on June 11 for $425 and he promised to order the materials and install them later that week. He then called and said he wouldn't have the materials until the next Tuesday but he would be there rain or shine that day. He didn't show up on Tuesday and when I called to ask why he said that he hadn't ordered anything yet. I told him to forget doing the work then and just give me my money back... We would take care of the problem ourselves. He said then he would put the $425 towards redoing the cement work around the corner of the garage. I told him that any cement work that needed to be redone was on him & his warranty and that the $425 needed to be returned to us. We are still waiting for him to return our $425.00. We have called him several times. Every time he says he will return the money but gives us a story about the check. First he said it was sent, but supposedly got returned to him because it had the wrong address. Then he said he would mail it himself on Monday July 1. Then he said he forgot about it, but mailed it on July 3. Then he told us he would bring the money to us on July 16. He didn't show. We are still waiting. It has been over a month since he told us he would give our money back. We have asked him to drop it off or meet us somewhere, but he refuses. Now he won't even answer our calls. He hangs up on us. This is a contractor that cannot be trusted. His word means nothing! He is a thief and a liar. Beware!
