Unexplained $250 Credit Card Spending Between May 6 and 13

Someone used my credit card details and spent $250 between May 6 and May 13. The money was paid back into my account, but I only found out about this attempt at fraud when I got my end-of-month statement. How could this happen? Explanation, please. I have never used this company in my life.
