I entered the store as soon as it opened one morning and spoke to Ms. Yip. I explained that I am afraid to try "Learn to Run" because of my inexperience with running and running clubs. She assured me that the people are friendly here and to sign up. I took the registration form and planned to sign up for $70plus tax. Then I discovered that I could try one session on Wed/Sun because they have a deal with Weight Watchers of which I am a member.
Yesterday, I went to the store in person and spoke with the manager, Ms. Yip in order to confirm this. She then advised that anyone can attend on Wed or Sun. For free. She said come early.
I made childcare arrangements and attended before 6:20pm. Groups of people were both inside and outside the store. I entered and advised Ms. Yip (who appeared to be dressed to run too) that I am here. I said to her "It took all my courage just to get here". She said "Gary and (a female's name) aren't here yet but they will lead". I said ok and waited in front of the store outside where others were. Nobody spoke to me or acknowledged my presence. I felt very uncomfortable and scared of the unknown. I was waiting for over 13 minutes and decided to enter the store. All of a sudden Ms. Yip was at the back of the store and said so everyone knows what group they are in - let's go. I had no idea what was going on while persons marched by me.
Bottom line: Ms Yip said " oh, I don't know where your group is. Sorry."
She should have directed me to stay in the store or directed her "leaders" to find me because I WAS NEW.
I left completely dejected and sorry I took the time, effort and cost of childcare to attend.
